The Melbourne Dog Lovers Show was on a few weekends ago and I was fortunate enough to have been gifted two tickets. I had attended an animal charity event the previous day and happened to be sitting next to a couple, who along with me and many others in the room, entered a raffle.
On my first day in Tulum I dumped my pack, got changed and made the 30 second walk across the small paved road to the Caribbean sea to take a long walk along the beach. I hadn’t got far when I saw a man in the distance sun-baking with a small chihuahua. Is there anything but a ‘small’ Chihuahua?
When I travel to foreign countries and see the relationship that people have with the dogs of their nations, it instills and reaffirms in me, just how similar we humans are. Somehow our connection with and our love of dogs manages to connect people, regardless of where we come from and our apparent differences.
Colombia; Utter the word Colombia and many people immediately conjure up thoughts of three things; coffee, cocaine and kidnapping! But to make this assumption or to go down this path is doing the country, its people and its dogs a huge injustice!
